"Thus we shall always be with the Lord." (1 Thessalonians 4:17)

Image
13 We do not want you to be unaware, brothers, about those who have fallen asleep, so that you may not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose, so too will God, through Jesus, bring with him those who have fallen asleep. e 15 Indeed, we tell you this, on the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, * will surely not precede those who have fallen asleep. f 16 For the Lord himself, with a word of command, with the voice of an archangel and with the trumpet of God, will come down from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. g 17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together * with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Thus we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore, console one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4: 13-18 Creative Commons — Attribution-NonCommercial 2.0 Generic — CC BY-NC 2.0 Sapphire Dream Photography

Heaven: a world of love with faith and hope

Image
"So faith, hope, love remain, these three; but the greatest of these is love." 1 Corinthians 13:13  "There are two things that this passage teaches us: 1) we learn that faith, hope, and love abide in heaven. We get to heaven by faith in the risen Lord Jesus (Rom. 10:9-10) and that faith will not end when we get there. 2) And we learn that love is superior to faith and hope in heaven."  14. What is the role of the Holy Spirit in heaven?

Image
"In summary, the Holy Spirit has a ministry here on earth and it is to believers. However, Scripture does not give us information as to His role in heaven. Whatever the Holy Spirit’s role in heaven, it is in cooperation with and submission to God the Father and Christ." What is the role of the Holy Spirit in heaven?   public domain

The Hope of Heaven (Daniel 12: 1-13)

At that time your people shall escape, everyone who is found written in the book. * 2 Many of those who sleep * in the dust of the earth shall awake; Some to everlasting life, others to reproach and everlasting disgrace. b 3 But those with insight shall shine brightly like the splendor of the firmament, And those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars * forever. c 4 “As for you, Daniel, keep secret the message and seal the book until the end time; many shall wander aimlessly and evil shall increase.” 5 I, Daniel, looked and saw two others, one standing on either bank of the river. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was upstream, “How long shall it be to the end of these appalling things?” 7 The man clothed in linen, d who was u

courage (Isaiah 41:10)

so, is getting to heaven easy? answer: yes and no  it's easy to get to heaven because Jesus died for our sins.  "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life." John 3:16.  it's hard because sometimes we believe that our sins are so great. How can I go to heaven given the number and gravity of my sins?  answer: God loves us and God forgives us if we are sorry for our sins.  "If we acknowledge our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and cleanse us from every wrongdoing." 1 John 1:9  It takes courage, another of God's gifts, to believe that God loves and forgives us.  "Do not fear: I am with you; do not be anxious: I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand." Isaiah 41:10  We, like Jesus, are tempted. The temptation of Jesus is described in Matthew, Mark and Luke. 1 * a Then Je

Imagine Heaven by John Burke

Imagine Heaven by John Burke is a fascinating read, especially if you like thoroughly researched books on a topic that you're interested in. It's Amazon's #1 best seller in near-death experiences.  "In Imagine Heaven, Burke compares over 100 gripping stories of near-death experiences (NDEs) to what Scripture says about our biggest questions of Heaven: Will I be myself? Will I see friends and loved ones? What will Heaven look like? What is God like? What will we do forever? What about children and pets?"   Amazon.com: Imagine Heaven: Near-Death Experiences, God's Promises, and the Exhilarating Future That Awaits You: 9780801015267: Burke, John, Piper, Don: Books   Perhaps the best thing about Imagine Heaven is that Burke provides the research and data (100 testimonies) and compares similarities. It's then up to the reader to draw their own conclusions. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wonders what heaven may be like.

Sirach 44: 9-15

Of others no memory remains, for when they perished, they perished, As if they had never lived, they and their children after them. Yet these also were godly; their virtues have not been forgotten. Their wealth remains in their families, their heritage with their descendants. Through God’s covenant their family endures, and their offspring for their sake. And for all time their progeny will endure, their glory will never be blotted out; Their bodies are buried in peace, but their name lives on and on. At gatherings their wisdom is retold, and the assembly proclaims their praises. Sirach 44: 9-15 * [ 44:1 – 50:24 ] As in the previous section God’s glory shone forth in the works of nature, so in these chapters it is revealed through the history of God’s people as seen in the lives of their ancestors, prophets, priests, and rulers. The example of these great people, whose virtues are recalled here, constitutes a high point of Ben Sira’s teaching. * [ 44:1 – 15 ] The reader is here introdu

why don't religions talk more about heaven?

the short answer is "I don't know". It seems that some Christian religions prefer to talk more about hell--and what you need to do to avoid going to hell. the short answer to that question is "do what we tell you to do--and don't do what we tell you not to do". what a drag!  it's MUCH more uplifting to think about how wonderful that heaven is...  so, the emphasis of this blog will be to joyfully discuss heaven and how wonderful that heaven is.  where do we start? I suppose that the best place to start is the bible. What did Jesus say about heaven? In Matthew 13 Jesus uses parables to describe heaven. When Jesus' disciples asked Jesus why He used parables, Jesus responded " Because knowledge of the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven has been granted to you, but to them it has not been granted." (Matthew 13:11) Jesus said that heaven is like a mustard seed (Matthew 13: 31-32), yeast (Matthew 12:33), a treasure buried in a field (Matthew 13:44

I was thinking...     heaven.  "What eye has not seen, and ear has not heard, and what has not entered the human heart, what God has prepared for those who love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9* heaven is a wonderful thought. the thought of heaven is so BIG that it deserves its own blog.
